FROM DONINGTON TO MELBOURNE

The UK's home of rock, Donington, hosted Monsters of Rock from 1980 till it became Download Festival in 2003, and is now making it's way to Oz for the first time!

Monsters of Rock was an annual hard rock and heavy metal music festival held in Castle Donington, England from 1980 to 1996. It later branched into other locations such as the Netherlands, Spain, Italy, Germany, France, Sweden, Argentina, Brazil, the United States and the former Soviet Union.

As a follow up to the legendary event it was recreated as Download Festival at Donnington in 2003 where it has run successfully ever since. To date, the only band that have headlined the festival more than twice is AC/DC, on four occasions: 1981, 1984, 1991 and 2010.

Under the Monsters of Rock moniker, the festival hosted such bands as Judas Priest, Saxon, Whitesnake, Status Quo, Meatloaf, ZZ Top, Ozzy Osbourne, Motorhead and Def Leppard to name a few. And as Download Festival it has hosted icons such as Slash, AC/DC, Iron Maiden, Iggy & The Stooges, Metallica, Billy Idol and Black Sabbath.

Now for the first time in 2018, the festival will come to Australia, launching in Melbourne in March 2018 and will host an ecclectic line up of major rock and metal bands including Korn, Limp Bizkit, Prophets of rage which features members of Rage Against The Machine, NOFX and Suicidal Tendancies.
